Thomas majored in Math and Philosophy as an undergraduate at Indiana University. He received a Ph.D. in Neuroscience under Apostolos Georgopoulos at the University of Minnesota. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship under Jack Gallant at University of California, Berkeley. He joined the Department of Neurosciences at MUSC as an Assistant Professor in 2012.
His research topics include the generative capabilities of the human visual system, neural decoding, and modeling the brain’s response to the natural environment.
