Abstract:	The discussion deals with resuscitation. The speaker Muḥammad ʿAlī al- Bār lists signs of life to contrast it with signs of death. He refers to open heart surgery, organ transplant and cerebral death. He explains the functions of the brain and asks when to stop life support after cerebral death. He stresses that death is defined as the separation of body and soul. The panelist al-Muḫtār al-Salāmī considers resuscitation as medical treatment.
