Structural Materials
In the structural materials group, emphasis is placed on the relationships between processing, microstructure and mechanical properties at high temperatures. Particular attention is paid to the role of dislocations during creep and to microstructural softening and degradation processes. Research in the reporting period was strongly shaped by the SFB/TR 103, which focuses on single crystal Ni- and Co-based superalloys. Moreover, the field of wear at elevated temperatures was taken up as a new research subject. A key element of research in the structural materials group are advanced, newly developed mechanical experiments in combination with quantitative microstructural analysis.
